Baotou, meaning "place with deer" in Mongolian, is located in the central-western part of Inner Mongolia. Known as the "Steel City on the Grassland," this city on the Yellow River combines the rugged spirit of a northern industrial hub with the vast tenderness of grassland culture. The Saihan Tara Urban Grassland — the largest urban grassland in Asia — lets you experience "boundless skies and endless plains" without leaving the city.

Morning | Wudangzhao Lamasery
- Overview: One of the four great Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, on par with Tibet's Potala Palace and Qinghai's Ta'er Temple. Built during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, the temple is built into the hillside with white walls and golden roofs — known as the "Little Potala Palace."
