🏛️ Day 1: The Imperial Heart
Morning: Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City
7:30 AM Depart from hotel. Take Subway Line 1 to Tiananmen East/West station.
The Forbidden City requires advance booking (旺季 ¥60, 淡季 ¥40). Book online at least 10 days ahead during peak season.
Forbidden City Route (3-4 hours):
- Meridian Gate → Hall of Supreme Harmony → Hall of Central Harmony → Hall of Preserving Harmony → Palace of Heavenly Purity → Imperial Garden → Exit via Gate of Divine Prowess
- Audio guide rental recommended (¥40)
Afternoon: Jingshan Park & Houhai
Cross the street from the Forbidden City's north exit to Jingshan Park (¥2). Climb to Wanchun Pavilion for the iconic panoramic view of the Forbidden City — arguably Beijing's best photo spot.
Walk 15 minutes west to Houhai Lake. The lakeside bars come alive at dusk — perfect for a relaxed evening.
