Enter at the 72nd Street entrance, walk across the iconic Bow Bridge, and enjoy the skyline reflected in the lake. Continue to Bethesda Terrace, where street performers entertain crowds — this spot was featured in The Avengers.
🎨 Just east of the park is The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), the largest art museum in the United States with over 2 million works spanning from ancient Egyptian temples to Impressionist masterpieces. Admission is $30 (suggested donation). Allow 2-3 hours minimum. Don't miss the Roof Garden for panoramic views of Central Park.
🍜 Lunch Recommendations:
- Shake Shack (Madison Ave) — NYC's iconic burger, ShackBurger approx. $13
- Levain Bakery (Upper West Side) — Best chocolate chip cookie in NYC, $6 each, crispy outside, molten brownie inside
Afternoon: Fifth Avenue → Rockefeller Center → St. Patrick's Cathedral
🛍️ Stroll south along Fifth Avenue, the world's most luxurious shopping street. Even if you're not shopping, the architecture along the way is stunning. Pass the Tiffany flagship store and Trump Tower to feel the pulse of New York.
🏙️ Rockefeller Center is a Manhattan landmark complex of 19 buildings spanning 22 acres. Take the elevator to the Top of the Rock observation deck ($40) for a perfect view framing the Empire State Building and Central Park — especially spectacular at sunset.
⛪ Across the street, St. Patrick's Cathedral is the largest Gothic Revival Catholic cathedral in North America, built in 1878. Free admission. The stained glass windows are breathtaking in the afternoon light.
