Overview
Pingxiang, gateway to western Jiangxi, is famous for Wugong Mountain — one of Jiangnan's three great peaks, with 10,000 acres of alpine meadows. China National Geographic ranks it the #1 "non-famous" peak. Three days to climb to Golden Summit for sunrise above a sea of clouds, trek across endless grasslands, and explore thousand-year-old temples.

Day 1: Ascent
Afternoon: Wugong Mountain
Tickets: ¥70 | Cable car up ¥65, down ¥55
Take 1st-stage cable car to Zhong'an (~10 min). Visit Zijin Palace (Ming Dynasty). Trek: Zhong'an → Haohan Slope → Diaomazhuang → Golden Summit (2–3 hrs).
Evening: Golden Summit Sunset
At 1,918m, sunset paints 10,000 acres of golden meadows. Summer nights: Milky Way visible. Sleep: Summit tent ~¥100–150, lodge ~¥300–500.
Day 2: Alpine Trek
Dawn: Golden Summit Sunrise

Day: Golden Summit → Fayunjie Ridge Trek
The crown jewel: ~12km / 6–8 hours along the rolling ridge. Endless alpine grasslands, wildflowers in spring, swaying silvergrass in autumn. Carry water and food — limited supply points.
Evening: Fayunjie Guesthouse
Simple wooden huts or tents.
Day 3: Descent & Local Flavors
Morning: Fayunjie sunrise → descend (2–3 hrs)
Lunch: Pingxiang cuisine

Afternoon: Yangqi Mountain

- Mountain weather changes fast — bring raincoat + windbreaker
- Cable car last departure ~5 PM (check seasonally)
- No fires on mountain; bring cold food or instant noodles
