Tai'an: Climb Mount Tai and the World Seems Small
Tai'an is named after Mount Tai — "When Mount Tai is at peace, all within the four seas is at peace." As the foremost of China's Five Great Mountains, Mount Tai is a UNESCO dual World Heritage site and the sacred mountain where emperors performed Fengshan ceremonies for millennia.
🚶 3-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Mount Tai — Red Gate Route Start from Red Gate (Hongmen), ascend via Zhongtian Gate and the legendary 18 Bends to South Heavenly Gate. The climb takes 4-6 hours. Admire ancient stone inscriptions, thousand-year pines, and the sea of clouds. Overnight at the summit (¥200-500) for sunrise.
Day 2: Sunrise → Descent → Dai Temple Watch the spectacular sunrise from Jade Emperor Peak (¥100 ticket if not prepaid). Descend on foot or by cable car (¥100). Afternoon: visit Dai Temple, where emperors worshipped the God of Mount Tai. See 2,000-year-old cypress trees and the Hall of Heavenly Blessing.
Day 3: Underground Grand Canyon → Fantawild Morning at the Underground Grand Canyon, a subterranean boat ride through massive karst caves. Afternoon: Fantawild Adventure or Culai Mountain hot springs.
