Guangyuan 3-Day Citywalk Guide: Empress Hometown & Shu Road Fortress
Guangyuan — birthplace of Wu Zetian, China's only empress. Jianmen Pass, "one man guards the pass, ten thousand cannot breach it." The Shu Road is Li Bai's "Hard Road to Shu, harder than climbing to heaven" made real. Cuiyun Corridor's 10,000 ancient cypress trees stretch 300 li — the "living fossil of land transport." Huangze Temple houses Wu Zetian's only known true portrait, Thousand Buddha Cliff's carvings are exquisite, Mingyue Gorge preserves millennia-old plank road ruins. Zhaohua Ancient Town echoes with Three Kingdoms legends. Three days on the Shu Road, through Jianmen Pass, savoring empress culture.
