Huizhou West Lake rivals Hangzhou's fame, Luofu Mountain is Taoism's 7th sacred cave-heaven, and Double Moon Bay offers China's rare twin-bay wonder. Su Dongpo lived here for 3 years and wrote the immortal verse: "Eating 300 lychees a day, I'd gladly be a Lingnan person forever." Huizhou is the perfect weekend escape from Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
🚶 Day 1: Huizhou West Lake (Half-City Lake Beauty)
Full Day: West Lake Leisure Tour
- Huizhou West Lake (free): Su Dongpo lived here for 3 years. Five interconnected lakes (Ping, Feng, Nan, Ling, E) linked by six bridges, total area 20.91 km² — comparable to Hangzhou's lake but more tranquil. Walk or cycle the lakeside greenway
- Sizhou Tower (free): Tang Dynasty octagonal 7-story pagoda, the lake's landmark. Climb for panoramic lake views. Su Dongpo referenced this tower in multiple poems
- Su Dongpo Memorial (free): Detailed exhibits of Su Dongpo and Wang Zhaoyun's life in Huizhou. He wrote many famous poems here including the legendary lychee verse
- Fenghu Academy (free): One of Guangdong's Four Great Academies, Southern Song origins
- Diancui Islet (free): Lake-center island connected by zigzag bridge — perfect for contemplation
- Gushan - Wang Zhaoyun's Tomb (free): Su Dongpo's concubine's tomb with his inscription

🚶 Day 2: Luofu Mountain (Lingnan's #1 Mountain)
Full Day: Luofu Mountain
- Luofu Mountain (¥54): One of China's Ten Great Taoist Mountains, "Lingnan's #1 Mountain," 1281m peak. Ge Hong of Eastern Jin Dynasty cultivated here — numerous Taoist relics remain
- Chongxu Ancient Temple (included): Founded by Ge Hong, 1600+ years, location of Taoism's 7th sacred cave-heaven
- Medicine Washing Pool (included): Where Ge Hong allegedly washed herbs; "Dan Zao" furnace remains nearby
- Flying Cloud Peak (1281m): Summit with views of Dongguan and Shenzhen on clear days
- Cable Car (¥95 round-trip): Saves time, 15min each way. Full hike 4-5 hours; recommended: cable up, walk down 1.5 hours
