Major Buddhist archaeological site — 1964: 14 Buddha relics unearthed here, including China's earliest surviving nested reliquary set (stone casket → copper box → silver coffin → gold coffin → glazed bottle), national treasure now in Gansu Provincial Museum.
Xiwangmu Palace: Birthplace of Queen Mother of the West culture — legend says Xiwangmu was born at Huishan Mountain in Jingchuan. Temple first built in Western Han, over 2,000 years of history, sacred site for Chinese worldwide. 1h from Pingliang city.
Afternoon: Pingliang Museum (Free)
Window into Pingliang's history — Kongtong Taoist artifacts, Jingchuan relic replicas, Pingliang historical relics. Star: replica of Tang Dynasty nested reliquary — gold coffin and silver casket exquisitely crafted.

Day 3: Yunya Temple → Departure
Morning: Yunya Temple National Forest Park (¥30, Zhuanglang County)
"Longshang's Dunhuang" — grottoes, danxia landform, and natural scenery combined. Caves carved Northern Wei to Ming Dynasty — 16 caves, 70+ sculptures. Most unique: caves carved directly into danxia red cliffs — red sandstone contrasts with Buddha figures. Ming Dynasty cave temple is one of the best-preserved in the Northwest. 2.5h from Pingliang. ~3 hours.
Departure: Train from Pingliang to Lanzhou (~5h) or Xi'an (~3.5h). Drive from Xi'an ~3h.
