Wuzhong 3-Day Travel Guide: Oasis Beyond the Great Wall, Golden Yellow River Banks, Hui Culture
Wuzhong, a pearl on the Ningxia Plain where the Yellow River flows through, known as the "Oasis Beyond the Great Wall." It has the highest proportion of Hui Muslim population of any Chinese prefecture. Tender hand-grabbed mutton, fragrant Eight Treasure Tea, and Wuzhong's legendary morning tea — "the best morning tea in the Northwest." Three days to experience Ningxia's most authentic culture.
🚶 Day 1: Yellow River Scenery and Qingtongxia Grand Canyon
Morning: Yellow River Tower (¥50)
Wuzhong's landmark at 108m tall, offering panoramic views of the Golden Yellow River Banks.
Afternoon: Qingtongxia Yellow River Grand Canyon (¥60, boat ¥80)
The most spectacular gorge on the upper Yellow River. The 108 Stupas — a triangular arrangement of Buddhist stupas on the hillside — are extraordinary.

The largest surviving Qing Dynasty complex in Ningxia, blending Han courtyard and Hui architectural styles.
Afternoon: Tongxin Grand Mosque (Free)
Built in the Ming Dynasty, one of Ningxia's oldest and largest mosques. A masterpiece of Chinese-Islamic architectural fusion.
Food:
- 🍜 Lamb Offal Soup: Tongxin's classic street food. ¥10-15
- 🫓 Sanzi: Crispy fried Hui pastry. ¥5-10/bag
🚶 Day 3: Habahu Ecological Area or Yanchi
Option A: Habahu Ecological Area (¥40)
An ecological miracle at the edge of the Mu Us Desert — wetlands, grasslands, and sand dunes coexist. Birdwatching paradise. Camel riding and sand sliding available.
Option B: Yanchi County
